An exceptional, custom-designed and remodeled bathroom will make your dream oasis a reality. On the other hand, you could hire cheap contractors for each phase of your project, and you will have to face your poorly executed bathroom remodel every day and be reminded of the fact that it didn’t turn out as planned. Or, you could choose to work with A Walk of Elegance Flooring & Design and walk into your bathroom every day and have it take your breath away every time you enter in. Not only do we have our own in-house installers and Design Consultants, we take you through every phase of the project without you having to “farm out” each different element. So, if you are serious about your bathroom remodel, consider the following dos and don’ts for the best results.

DO Budget for Unexpected Expenses - One of the most commonly discovered problems during a bathroom remodel is hidden water damage. An experienced contractor will alert you to any potential problems by performing exploratory work near the beginning of your project. It’s always a good idea to be prepared for unexpected issues and to budget accordingly.

DON’T Rush the Process - Everyone starts out by planning their remodel, and they want it done ASAP. But please resist the urge to rush, because poor planning is the leading reason people exceed their budgets and end up with a bigger bill. Get each thing right the first time by planning accordingly. Do you have access to a second bathroom during the remodel? Plan ahead and relocate your daily items so that you don’t have to spend wasted time going back and forth. While most bathroom remodels can be done in about 2-4 weeks, you have to keep an open mind and be prepared for small inconveniences during the process.

DO Be Realistic About your Tub or Shower - Soaking in a warm, relaxing bathtub is an incredible experience, but how often do you actually use it? The current trend is to spend more on a luxury shower that you will use daily rather than trying to hold on to the concept of a tub that you might only use once a month.

DON’T Forget About the Future, Marty McFly - You might be in tip-top health today, but that doesn’t mean your needs won’t change as you grow older. Consider things like curbless showers and grab-bars, an open full-turn space, and possibly even wider doorways, that will meet your needs now and in the future.

DO Reconsider Your Vanity Space - In the past, his-and-her sinks were a desirable feature in a master bathroom, but a lot of couples now agree that the additional counter space is more valuable than a second sink. Or, if you do opt for the second sink, consider two separate vanities separated by a linen closet or other cabinetry, so that you’re not crammed next to one another. Be realistic about your needs so that you end up creating the most value with your bath remodel.

DON’T Skimp on Cabinetry with Good Storage Space - One of the easiest things to overlook during a bathroom remodel is also one of the most important elements - storage space. You want to create a bathroom that is just as functional as it is beautiful. Features like built-in soap dispensers, corner or over the toilet cabinets can add more storage easily and conveniently.

DO Consider Water Efficiency – You want to save money, right? Think about this fact: Your bathroom remodel can actually save you a significant amount of money in the long run if you add energy and water efficient fixtures that take a bit of the budgetary concerns out of the equation.

DON’T Cut Corners with Cheap Materials – Everyone wants to keep their costs down, and that’s certainly understandable, but think about the big picture. When it comes to materials, sure you can buy cheap, poorly made products, but realistically (VERY realistically), if you have to go back and replace cheap materials several times, you’ve well exceeded the cost of the right materials the first time.

CHOOSE A BATH REMODELING COMPANY YOU CAN TRUST

One of the most important DO'S when it comes to your bathroom remodel is to choose a company that has a proven track record of success, quality, and service. A Walk of Elegance Flooring & Design has been in business 21 years and employs expert Design Consultants, fabricators, installers and plumbers to ensure you receive nothing but superior quality every step of the way.

We have had clients rushing to replace these critical bathroom elements for a re-appraisal, specifically to bring up the value of their home, and it works!
